I have had the good fortune to do a little caving in Texas, but not a lot of mapping or exploration. I did get a chance to dive in a little cave called Gorman Falls, and another called Golden Fleece Cave, but this was so long ago, I was not really doing any cartography at the time. Frankly, it was all I could do to just do the cave dives. Quite a few years later, I was asked to come out and make a map of another cave in Texas, Phantom Springs Cave. You can read about that, and others below. Texas has a significant number of caves, from the Big Bend area, to Austin and the hill country. They also have a very active Speleological Survey. I hope to have the opportunity to do some more caving in Texas.
